The Kingsport Carousel Project of Engage Kingsport and the City of Kingsport Office of Cultural Arts announce a call to artists for work on 24 bird paintings for the Carousel. The paintings will be done on 15-inch diameter disks of plywood covered with artist canvas.
Finished paintings will be mounted on the carousel’s upper inside panels that surround the center pole, motor, etc. Each of the twelve inside panels will have two bird paintings for a total of 24.
Artists interested in painting one of the birds are encouraged to attend an informational meeting on Monday, August 12, 2013 at 11:30 AM in room 239 of the Renaissance Arts Center.
Lead artist for the Bird Paintings is local artist Joanne McDonough. Selected artists will be asked to pay a materials and instruction fee of $25.00.
