The City of Kingsport Office of Cultural Arts is pleased to present An Evening of Classical Dances of India on Saturday, March 1, 2014 at 6:30 PM at the Renaissance Arts Center Theatre.

The beautiful classical dance of India shares the stories and culture through music, movement and voice.

Exotically clad dancers will be joined by a live orchestra:

The concert is being organized by Ms. Bhavani Murthy. Mrs. Bhavani Murthy has been a dedicated student, teacher and performer of Bharatha Natyam for the past 28 years. She has had extensive training in Bharatha Natyam under such eminent gurus as Smt. Sudha Chandrasekar, Miss Bhanumathi of Bharatanjali troupe, Bangalore, India.  And she has also been trained in Kuchipudi for the past 15 years under Smt. Sandhya Sree Athmakuri of MI.  Bhavani has to her credit several group and solo performances in many parts of U.S.A.  Her students have performed for many local organizations and won acclaim.  She has presented her students in many charity organizations.  She is also an ardent lover of Carnatic South Indian music thanks to the inspiration instilled by her mother Smt. Saroja Sastry, who had learnt carnatic music herself. Bhavani has presented her students for many programs across Tri-cities.
